FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT ARE THE BEST MONTHS TO VISIT NEW ZEALAND?

The varied climate and scenery make New Zealand a wonderful country to visit for your wellness retreat at any time of year. With beautiful coastline, forests, mountains and even volcanoes, the region is a must-see for the outdoor enthusiast.

Depending on the activities you have in mind, it’s worth being aware of the seasons as these differ quite wildly to those you may be used to back home.

First of all, the summer happens in reverse to summer in the West. The hottest months in New Zealand can be found in January and February. You’re also likely to get the driest weather around this time.

If it’s quiet that you’re looking for, you’ll find it on your wellness retreat no matter what time of year you travel, but the region as a whole is probably quietest around the month of May. This is the end of autumn, before the snow-season starts.

WHAT IS THE COLDEST MONTH IN NEW ZEALAND?

July is usually the coldest month in New Zealand, but it’s at this time of year that you can witness some of the country’s most beautiful scenery. The ski season begins in June, with snow falling until the end of August. As a result, the mountain resorts tend to be popular at this time, and the lowland resorts less crowded.

IS NEW ZEALAND DANGEROUS TO VISIT?

No! New Zealand is a really safe place to visit, and you’ll find the local people to be very friendly and take a genuine interest in you. Unlike neighboring Australia, there are very few dangerous animals around, though it’s worth keeping away from spiders and being aware that Portuguese Man o’ War jellyfish lurk in the sea. Sharks too, although the chances of being bitten here are small.

Crime rates are pretty low across the country. The most likely occurrence is to have your car broken into, so take your belongings with you at all times, and if that’s impossible, make sure they’re locked out of sight.
